Fresh 48 Newborn Photography in Bellevue & Eastside

Those first 48 hours with your baby only happen once.
Fresh 48 photography lets you stay fully present in the moment while I quietly and gently document your baby’s very first hours earthside — tiny details, first snuggles, and the beginning of your family’s new chapter

What Is a Fresh 48 Newborn Session?

A Fresh 48 session is a special, in-hospital newborn photoshoot that takes place within the first 24–48 hours after birth — while you and your baby are still at the hospital, birth center, or at home after a home birth.

This is not a posed studio session with props and baskets.
Fresh 48 is all about:

  • real, in-between moments,

  • first skin-to-skin snuggles,

  • tiny hands and feet,

  • those sleepy newborn stretches,

  • and the raw emotion of meeting your baby for the very first time.

If hospital policy allows, this is also a beautiful way to capture siblings meeting the baby or grandparents seeing their grandchild for the first time.

Why Fresh 48 Photos Matter

The first hours with your newborn can feel like a blur — a mix of joy, exhaustion, and overwhelming love.
You may not remember every detail, but photographs will.

Fresh 48 photography helps you:

  • Freeze the tiny details — hospital bracelet, wrinkled feet, soft hair, first yawns.

  • Remember how it felt — the way your baby fit into your arms on day one.

  • Share the moment with family and friends who can’t be there in person.

  • Create the very first chapter in your baby’s story, beautifully documented.

Your job is to rest, recover, and fall in love with your baby.
My job is to quietly take care of the photos.

Ready to Reserve Your Fresh 48 Session?

If you’d like to remember them not as a blur, but as a beautiful, tangible story — I’d be honored to document them for you.

What to Wear for a Fresh 48 Session

You have just given birth — comfort comes first. Simple and soft is best.

For Mama

  • Loose, comfortable clothing in light or neutral tones

  • A soft robe, nursing-friendly top, or nightgown

  • Avoid bold patterns and bright colors that can distract from baby

  • If you like, a light touch of makeup and brushed hair — but it’s absolutely not required

For Baby

  • Simple onesie, wrap, or hospital blanket

  • Neutral colors or soft pastels

  • No need for props or elaborate outfits

For Partner & Siblings

  • Soft, neutral colors that coordinate: beige, cream, gray, light blue, dusty pink

  • Avoid logos and large text on clothing

If you’re unsure what to bring, I’m happy to help you choose — you can send me a quick photo of your options before the session.

How a Fresh 48 Session Works

Step 1 – Book During Pregnancy

Fresh 48 sessions are limited because they must be scheduled around due dates.
Most families reserve their session in the second or third trimester to ensure availability.

Once you book, you’ll receive a simple guide with:

  • What to wear (comfortable, neutral, flattering)

  • What to pack if you’d like to be photographed

  • How to notify me when baby arrives

Step 2 – Let Me Know When Baby Arrives

When your baby is born, you (or your partner) send me a quick text or email with:

  • Baby’s date and time of birth

  • Hospital / birth location

  • Room number (if you already have it)

We then choose a time within the first 24–48 hours that works with your recovery, feeding schedule, and any hospital restrictions.

Step 3 – The In-Hospital Session

I arrive quietly and work around your baby’s needs.
We keep things very simple and gentle:

  • I use natural window light whenever possible

  • No complicated setups

  • You can stay in bed if needed — I’ll work around you

  • We follow baby’s pace — feeding, changing, and soothing are all part of the story

If siblings or grandparents are allowed to visit, we can include them too, following hospital rules.

Step 4 – Editing & Delivery

After the session, I carefully select and edit your images in my soft, timeless style. You will receive: a private online gallery where you can download, print, and share your images with family — near and far.

Fresh 48 Photography FAQ

Contact Us: info@kalinafilm.com

Q: When should I book my Fresh 48 session?

A: The best time to book is during your pregnancy — ideally in the second or early third trimester. This allows me to reserve space around your due date and guarantee availability when baby arrives.

Q: What if my baby needs extra care or time in the NICU?

A: Your baby’s health and your recovery always come first. If your baby needs NICU time, we will adjust the timing of your session or convert it into an in-home newborn session once you’re all ready and cleared. We’ll decide together what feels best for your family.

Q: What if I don’t feel “photo ready” after birth?

A: Almost every parent feels this way — and it’s completely normal. My approach is gentle and very flattering: soft light, simple poses, and angles that highlight connection, not perfection. You don’t have to do anything extra; your love for your baby is what makes the photos beautiful.
If you still don’t feel comfortable being photographed in the hospital, we can absolutely schedule a studio session instead — once you’ve had time to rest, recover, and feel more like yourself. The most important thing is that you feel safe, supported, and ready.

Q: Can you still photograph us if I’ve had a C-section?

A: Yes. I will work entirely around your comfort and mobility. You can stay in bed, and I’ll guide you into relaxed positions that are safe and comfortable. There is no expectation to stand, move, or pose if it doesn’t feel right.

Q: Are grandparents and siblings welcome in the photos?

A: If your hospital or birth center allows visitors, yes — absolutely. Siblings meeting their baby brother or sister for the first time is one of the most emotional parts of a Fresh 48 session. We’ll always respect hospital policies and your baby’s needs.

Q: Do you bring props or outfits?

A: Fresh 48 sessions are designed to feel real and honest, so I keep things minimal and natural. I don’t use heavy props or elaborate setups — your baby, your arms, and your surroundings are more than enough.

Q: What’s Included in Your Fresh 48 Photography Session and how much it costs?

A: Fresh 48 sessions are $750 and include all of the best edited photos from your session — typically 10+ beautiful, digital images delivered in an online gallery you can easily download, print, and share with family.
